Thank you for your interest in beginning a Rosary making Group. We wish to offer some suggestions on how to begin.
It would be a good start for you to visit a Rosary making group currently producing Rosaries. This would allow you to learn how to make some of the various styles of plastic and chain Mission and Military Rosaries. You may wish to belong to a group for a time first prior to starting your parish group.
Speak to your Pastor regarding your decision and ask for his blessing and assistance in your endeavor. Share with him your wishes for him to bless the Rosaries your group makes. Find out if there is a room in your church for your group to meet. If you wish to have your group meet in your home that is fine as well.
Where to purchase supplies is important. You are welcome to purchase supplies from the supplier of your choice. Many of the Rosary making groups in the Greater Toronto Area purchase supplies from the John Bead Corp. Review their advertisement and contact them to arrange to become a Rosary Making Group member. This will allow you to purchase supplies at a discount.
Another wonderful supplier is Our Lady's Rosary Makers in Louisville, Kentucky. The value you recieve for supplies balances out the duty fee you may pay when your purchase crosses the American Canadian border.
During this time also share with family, friends, church friends, fellow parishioners your desire to begin a rosary making group. Invite them to join you and to share your invitation to join you in making Rosaries with others they know. Have it announced in your parish bulletin a group will be starting. This may spark interest, and the prayers you will need to begin this apostolate.
Rosary making is not a profit making endeavour, so keep you ears open for persons and groups who may be willing to donate funds towards the cost of supplies, crucifixes, cord, beads, etc.
